Aum or om also known in Sanskrit as praṇava has the literal meaning of "It is" or "Will be". Om is the most sacred sound in the Hindu religion and symbolizes the infinity of the divine. All Hindu mantra's begin and end with Aum. The Aum sound has four sounds, the A is a vibration near the abdomen, the U vibrates in the chest, the M ends at the lips and the fourth sound is silence.
